Thank You for Fundraising Support To the Editor: As many of you recall, in June of 2022, the Baumgardner family had multiple hardships to face. Carrie Baumgardner, mother of five children, was diagnosed with cancer. On June 7th, she underwent surgery to remove multiple organs. On June 24th, Carrie was released from the hospital and the following day, the Baumgardner’s home was destroyed by fire. Stop taxing the earned income of workers To the Editor: Yes, it’s legal for Pennsylvania’s school districts to tax the earned income of workers and to share that revenue with another governmental unit. However, why do it? It is an unfair tax on the working class, and it costs extra to collect that tax. Yes, property taxes are very unpopular with taxpayers, but these taxes are much fairer than the earned income of workers because they are based on the size (value) of a property. Think about it! Thank You In January of 2003, I preached my first sermon as pastor of the Maple Grove Mennonite Church in Belleville, PA. Now, 20+ years later, on August 27, 2023, I will be preaching my last sermon as pastor. This letter is to publicly express my thanks to the congregation for the many ways they cared for and supported me and my family over the years.
