Thanks to hospital, first responders To the Editor: Almost a month ago, having been injured with a collapsed lung and broken ribs, I experienced services from the following: 1. FAME EMS – impressive in stabilizing my injuries. 2. Geisinger Lewistown Trauma ER doctor – outstanding with his handling of my injuries. 3. All-female ambulance staff that transported to Danville –extremely competent and so very kind to me. Thanks to each of you for such outstanding care during my emergency. Reminders of human disaster To the Editor: I’m really mad again — this time because I’ve just read a book, “Saving Aziz,” which tells the story of an Afghan interpreter for the military and his rescue from the Taliban and arrival in the US. What makes me mad is that, in recounting the story of the evacuation of Afghanistan, it reminds me of what a colossal and unnecessary human disaster that event was. What Pennsylvania Rural Counties Need! To the Editor: The rural counties DO NOT NEED corporations with ambitious, overpaid CEOs looking for cheap labor in a state with a low corporate income tax rate and a state that does not have a graduated income tax that taxes the wealthy at a higher tax rate than working class taxpayers. They would prefer a state like Pennsylvania with a high sales tax rate that hurts lower income workers and their families. Response to Mr. Sellers, published on July 1 I would like to respond to the letter published by Mr. Stephen Sellers published on July 1, 2023. Where do I start? Let’s go in order. 1. Yes, Biden did stop the Keystone Pipeline, a pipeline, I may add, that led from Mexico to Canada and had no stops at American oil refineries, but instead, would have ruined the drinking water of Native American tribes and their tribal lands.
