Why is gas price so much higher here?

To the editor: After watching the wholesale cost of gasoline drop significantly in the past couple of weeks, coupled with a steep difference in prices between Mifflin County gas stations and those in Duncannon and Harrisburg, the Mifflin County Commissioners believe companies need to take a hard look at what they are charging Mifflin County drivers. The price of gasoline at the major gas providers at Clark’s Ferry (Duncannon) stands at $4.09 per gallon, and at the Front Street Exxon in Harrisburg the price is $3.91 per gallon. To the editor: This is a reply to Joan Loewen’s July 27 letter to the editor. Anyone who does not know where government money comes from and doesn’t know the effects of devalued money should not make statements of its distribution. Our country’s current situation of high inflation stems directly from the very source you advocate. The editor: This is an answer to the letter by David L. Faust in the July 22 Sentinel. Even with a flat rate tax that is based on one’s income, the more you earn, the more you pay. For example 10% of $20,000 is $2,000 and10% of $2,000,000.00 is $200,000.00. The difference is the deductions you allow. When it comes to corporations, they don’t pay the taxes. That is always passed on to the customer. That is who ends up paying the tax. What were we thinking?

To the editor: What were we thinking? We kinda thought we were progressing. We always had a solid foundation that we were building on, namely the Constitution. We were becoming increasingly self-sufficient with respect to energy production. Good things were happening around the globe. Peace was breaking out where we feared war was inevitable! Second Amendment is to protect other rights

To the editor: This letter is to answer the letter of George Fisher in the July 15 Sentinel. The Second Amendment states, “A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” It does not say the right of the militia to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
