This is in response to Mr. Spahr's letter published on July 22.
You claim that I am influenced by the liberal media, can you say that you are not influenced by the right wing media of businesses such as FOX and OAN. If you claim that you are not influenced by what you watch then I seriously question you.
My letter that was published on July 15 was full of researched facts, unlike yours that seems to be the one showing emotion. Let's talk about those "God" given rights. Can you please, as I asked before, show me the hand of God that wrote those words or was it a man that wrote them. A man (more than likely a slave owner -- so much for liberty and the pursuit of happiness there) who wrote them at a time in history when women were second class citizens and treated no better than property, and when POC where treated as property.
And quite often life ended when someone decided they did not like the look of you and shot you there and then. All historic fact by the way.
Even today in some parts of this country that still happens.
Now to your claim that I cannot distinguish between history and the present. I corrected you on that with actual historical facts not just hyperbole but real facts. Are you trying to claim that historical facts are wrong?
As I have said to other people put up or shut up. In other words prove me wrong.
As for not seeing the forest for the trees that sound more like the GOP with their continued denials of climate change, women's rights, the fact that some members of the GOP want to get rid of hard fought for rights of the LGBQT+ community. Could it be a party that is afraid of progress, could it be people like you that are afraid of change?
Now to the gun deaths. According to an article published on NPR.org called "Gun Violence deaths: how the US compares to the Rest of World" published on May 24, the U.S. has a gun death rate that is eight times higher that Canada and nearly 100 times higher that the United Kingdom.
Per capita the U.S. had 3.96 deaths per 100,000, Canada 0.47 deaths per 100,000 and the UK 0.04 deaths per 100,000. Again, according to the same article, the District of Colombia has a death rate from guns of 18.5 per 100,000, Louisana has a rate of 9.34 per 100,000, Georgia and Colorado have a rate of 5.62 per 100,000.
You said to add up those gun deaths. I think I summed that up perfectly. Don't you?
