Commissioners set ordinance hearing data

LEWISTOWN — Mifflin County Commissioners will hold a public hearing Aug. 6 on a proposed amendment establishing requirements for data center development under the county’s subdivision and land development ordinance. The hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. in meeting room A on the second floor of the Mifflin County Courthouse, 20 N. Wayne St., Lewistown. Commissioners will provide information about the proposed ordinance and accept public comment. LEWISTOWN — The Mifflin County Industrial Development Corp. said it has not granted — or been asked to grant — easements across its property for a potential hyperscale data center in Granville Township. LEWISTOWN — The Mifflin County School District Board of Directors discussed the upcoming nomination and appointment of a director to fill former board President Zeb Harshbarger’s seat, among other business at the committee of the whole meeting on Thursday, July 16. The board recommended accepting Harshbarger’s resignation, effective July 23. Harshbarger also served as the TIU 11 Board representative for the district. Motorcyclist killed in Perry County crash

From staff reports LANDISBURG — A 28-year-old Millerstown man was killed Sunday evening in a two-vehicle crash on Shermans Valley Road in Perry County. According to Pennsylvania State Police, James A. Snyder Jr. was traveling east on a 2013 Yamaha motorcycle when he failed to negotiate a curve, traveled onto an embankment and lost control before re-entering the roadway. The motorcycle sideswiped a westbound Honda Civic driven by David L. Carlson Jr., 60, of Loysville. Snyder was pronounced dead at the scene.
