Few contested races draw low turnout in Juniata County

MIFFLINTOWN — With few contested races on the ballot, Juniata County reported a 25.22% voter turnout in Tuesday’s primary election, according to unofficial results.

County officials reported turnout included 31.5% of registered Democrats and 23.62% of registered Republicans.

On the Republican side, Jason Richey was the top vote-getter in the lieutenant governor race with 1,435 votes, while John Ventre received 737 votes.

In the uncontested governor’s race, Stacy Garrity received 2,172 votes.

Incumbent John Joyce, representing the 13th Congressional District, received 2,233 votes, while incumbent Judy Ward, representing the 30th Senatorial District, received 2,227 votes.

On the Democratic side, incumbent Josh Shapiro received 762 votes in the uncontested governor’s race.

Austin Davis received 736 votes in the lieutenant governor race.

In the 13th Congressional District race, Beth Farnham received 736 votes, while Sean Steeg received 728 votes in the race for the 30th Senatorial District seat.
