LEWISTOWN — Light voter turnout marked Tuesday’s primary election in Mifflin County, where voters cast ballots in a limited slate of state and local races led by the Republican contest for lieutenant governor.

According to unofficial election results, 5,490 total ballots were cast countywide. Republicans accounted for 3,989 votes, while Democrats cast 1,501 ballots.

In the Republican race for lieutenant governor, Jason Richey led the field in Mifflin County with 2,793 votes. John Ventre received 944 votes.

Republican Stacy Garrity received 3,544 votes in the uncontested race for governor.

In congressional races, incumbent U.S. Rep. John Joyce, representing the 13th Congressional District, ran uncontested and received 3,789 votes.

State Sen. Judy Ward, representing the 30th Senatorial District, received 3,818 votes in her uncontested Republican race.

State Rep. Kerry Benninghoff, who represents the 171st Legislative District, also ran uncontested and received 2,862 votes.

On the Democratic side, incumbent Gov. Josh Shapiro received 1,450 votes in the uncontested gubernatorial race.

Incumbent Lt. Gov. Austin Davis received 1,427 votes in the Democratic lieutenant governor race.

In the 13th Congressional District race, Democrat Beth Farnham received 1,428 votes.

Sean Steeg received 1,416 votes in the Democratic race for the 30th Senatorial District.

Democrat John Zangari received 979 votes in the race for the 171st Legislative District.

The results remain unofficial pending certification.
