From staff reports
MIFFLINTOWN — A Lewistown man was jailed on rape charges after police said he required sex in return for a place to live.
Eduardo Ortiz Guzman, 35, was arraigned before Maigsterial District Judge Tracy Powell Tuesday on charges of felony rape, aggravated indecent assault, sexual assault and rape of an impaired person; misdemeanor selling alcohol to a minor and harassment.
According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, a victim had been living with Guzman between November 2022 and April 2023. The report says Guzman implicated to the victim in January that they needed to
perform sexual favors in return for staying with him.
The report states that on one occasion, Guzman threatened to kick the victim out of the residence if they did not allow the sexual favors to occur.
The report states that Guzman would also force the victim to ingest drugs and alcohol during the assaults.
Guzman was already incarcerated during the time the charges were processed. He is being held at Mifflin County Correctional Facility on $100,000 for these offenses. He is awaiting a preliminary hearing set for 10:30 a.m. May 9 in Powell’s office.
