LEWISTOWN — Residents and visitors are invited to celebrate Independence Day and America’s 250th anniversary during the Juniata River Valley’s annual fireworks display on June 27.
The fireworks show is scheduled to begin at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, June 27, with a rain date of June 28. The approximately 30-minute display will be launched from the field adjacent to the Mifflin County Industrial Development Plaza, offering viewing opportunities throughout the area.
This year’s event is part of the nationwide America250 commemoration marking the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
The display is sponsored by the Juniata River Valley Chamber of Commerce, Juniata River Valley Visitors Bureau and the Mifflin County Commissioners.
“The Independence Day fireworks have become one of the signature events that brings our community together,” said Rhonda Kelley, executive director of the Juniata River Valley Chamber of Commerce. “As we celebrate America250, we are reminded of the entrepreneurial spirit, resilience and sense of community that have shaped our nation for 250 years.”
Jenny Landis, executive director of the Juniata River Valley Visitors Bureau, said the event highlights the region’s heritage and community spirit while attracting visitors to the area.
Mifflin County Commissioner Rob Postal said the America250 commemoration provides an opportunity to reflect on the nation’s history while celebrating values shared throughout the community.
