If you believe in logic and reason, don’t vote GOP To the editor: Oh, the love and fawning so many have for John Hershey. Sorry, but he is still a Republican! As far as for any rational thinking human, that should be disqualifying for anyone to hold any political office. Show me a Republican and I will show you a fool or a liar! What the Republican Party has become is nothing short of a band of crazies bowing at the feet of those willing to feed them fears of the ill-informed. Do you seriously ever listen to these people in the GQP? As a Republican, have you ever listened to an ...

Vote Hershey because he gets things done To the editor: I am writing to tell you a story. Sent my 1989 Chrysler registration to PennDOT a month ahead of expectation. Time came and went. Never received it. But they cashed the check. Called PennDOT twice and they were looking into it. Finally I went to Representative John Hershey’s office on Industrial Park Road and asked for help. Within a week, I got my registration. I have been a registered voting Democrat since 1958, but I vote for the person who’s values I agree with no matter the party. I recommend John Hershey ...

Rep. Hershey stands for this region’s values To the editor: I am writing in support of John Hershey in his bid to represent Juniata and Perry counties in the upcoming Pa. House of Representatives 86th District primary election. Since being elected as the 82nd District representative, John Hershey has shown he is truly a representative of the people. John makes himself and his staff available not only to the people he represents but all Pennsylvanians and their issues and concerns. John cares about people. He supports veterans and their rights and benefits that they justly ...

How did our economy get to this point?

To the editor: The Sentinel’s opinion page is a must read for me. I appreciate hearing differing opinions and want to thank everyone motived to write. Also I’d like to say I admire many extremely well written letters. We have some gifted writers in the area. However, some like to write many groups, among them liberals, conservatives, Democrats or Republicans are stupid and have no clue of what’s really happening. I disagree that all of any group are alike or think alike and as our kindergarten teachers taught us, all snowflakes are different, not the same, but are unique, just ...

Hershey has proven he is there to support us To the editor: To ensure that our small rural counties have aggressive, progressive and forward thinking representation in Harrisburg, we must re-elect John Hershey. In the first couple of months that Representative Hershey served in the Legislature, he sponsored a law that saved our Call A Ride Service from becoming a private contract. That guaranteed a local service would continue for our senior citizens and persons with health problems to have appropriate transportation to medical appointments. He met with farmers and backed ...

Letter writer pot calling Republican kettle black To the editor: This letter is in reply to Mr. Fisher’s dislike of my comments on “transgender sports” in Saturday’s Sentinel, April 23. Mr. Fisher your fear of arrest is unfounded unless trans sports are criminalized. Sports was the only subject of my letter. I clearly stated anyone could live as they wish. Your compulsion to expound on this subject is telling. As to your question of your statements, here are two by you in the Sentinel’s Facebook comments. On March 12 this year you wrote: “So no Mr Wagner the only ...
