Shapiro is the better choice

To the editor: I have spoken about why Doug Mastriano is a dangerous choice for Pennsylvania’s governor. I would like to speak now on why Josh Shapiro is the better choice. Under Mr. Shapiro’s leadership, the office of PA attorney general arrested more than 6,500 drug dealers, seizing 2.5 million doses of heroin and over 1.5 million doses of fentanyl. His office, in cooperation with six other state AGs, reached an agreement with opioid manufacturer Endo International and its lenders, resulting in Pennsylvania receiving about $1.1 billion, over a million of which went to Mifflin ...

To the editor: In a recent Sentinel was a column by Judge Napolitano that I found total ridiculous for his statement that those coming across the border illegally are somehow legal immigrants. Since when is trespassing legal? And the person who called in praising Judge Napolitano’s article must be taking woke pills. If someone breaks into my home they are not by any legal standard entitled to do so. They are without doubt committing an ILLEGAL ACT. How is that different than someone sneaking into my country. Domestic Violence Awareness Month

To the editor: Each year, in October, advocates, survivors, and supporters recognize October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM). In 1989 the U.S. Congress passed Public Law 101-112 designating October of that year as National Domestic Violence Awareness Month for the first time. Such legislation has passed every year since highlighting the importance of honoring those who have died as a result of domestic violence, honoring those who have survived, and connecting current victims and their loved ones with confidential, life-saving services. Thanks for support of Ukraine families

To the editor: Thank you for publishing the story on the bracelet fundraiser for Ukrainian troops on Aug. 27. A total of $1,551.86 was raised and sent to Oksana DeArment’s family living in the western side of the country at war. The money has already been spent on a variety of nonperishable foods including coffee, noodles, crackers and more. Some of the money was spent on gloves and outerwear for the coming cold weather. A total of six large boxes were delivered to DeArment’s brother-in-law and his fellow soldiers. Thank you to everyone who donated money to make this happen. ...

Why doesn’t editor respond?

To the editor: I have noticed that from time to time a “Letter to the Editor” is responded to by a reader; I’m sure many of you have seen this too. The response may be for a variety of reasons ranging from support of or opposition to the letter’s main thesis. The responder may offer additional facts that bolster the original writer’s ideas or opinions; conversely the responder may offer evidence that not only refutes but completely disproves ideas put forth as fact by the original writer. Finish the job at the southern border

To the editor: I have a few things I would like to see happen at the southern border: 1. Finish the wall that President Trump started. 2. Get legislation enacted that no person is admitted into the U. S. unless they report to a normal entrance on a normal thoroughfare with a guarded gate. Anyone entering any other way is automatically rejected. 3. Anyone caught smuggling any type of contraband articles of substances is immediately taken into custody and jailed, charges filed and remain without bail until the trial. 4.
