To the editor:
There are many excuses given for the problem in our nation and the world today. Economy, inflation, national and world leadership, etc., I find that the problem today is the same problem that started with Adam.
Man was created with the ability to serve and obey God (Eccl.7:29) but he chose not to. When Adam chose to eat the forbidden fruit he chose to be his own God and not to serve the true God. His choice to sin against God caused him to lose his ability to serve God as he was able to when he was created. The fallen image he now possessed was passed on to all of his descendants (Gen.5:3;Rom.5:2).
Through Adam all have sinned (Rom.3:23), all are sinners by birth (PS.51.5), and "are estranged from the womb and go astray as soon as they are born" (PS.58:3). Even after God judged the world with the flood and only saved eight people we find that it did not change man. In Gen.8:21 we find that mans heart was still evil as it was before the flood.
In Paul's letter to the Roman Church we find that "there are none that seek after God" (3:23) and that the "carnal (fleshy) mind is against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be" (8:7). So man in and of himself cannot change himself. Thus we still have the same problem of sinning against God because man chooses to do "that which is right in his own eyes" (Judges17:6) instead of what is right in the eyes of the Lord.
Our nation was built on godly principles by people that were strong in their faith toward God. The truth of the word of God was preached in the church and those in leadership looked to God for guidance.
Today I seek a weak and crumbling church willing to submit to the world and allowing the world within
it. Sins that were considered abominations to God and worthy of death (Lev.18:22;22:13) are now being embraced by the church as being exceptable behavior. The ways of the world are allowed in the church to increase numbers instead of preaching of the truth of God's word and preaching against sin (Rom.1:26-28).
To prosper as a nation as we did in the beginning we as a nation need to repent of our sins and turn to God, starting with the church.
As God blessed Israel when they turned again to Him he will bless this nation again when we again turn to Him as our God and sovereign ruler. If the other nations of the world do the same we will see great changes within the world in which we now live.
