Who is the real cream of the crop? To the Editor: Controversy has always been an element of our republic. It goes hand in hand with compromise or the resolution of disagreements. There have been unsavory verbal incidents in Congress before, Presidents have had affairs, women have jumped from congressmen’s cars and landed in the tidal basin, there have been burglaries to support campaigns and there will be similar events in the future. ‘Republican’ officials go against ideals To the Editor: I am writing in concern of the County Commissioner’s letter to Senator Ward in support of H.B. 847 that was in the Readers’ Opinion in the Sentinel on May 15, 2024. H.B. 847 is a bill that would allow mail-in ballots to be counted beginning seven days before election day this November. Although when you first hear that, it sounds like a good thing, right? War is hell; religious folks to face trials To the Editor: I enjoyed the letter that Michael Spahr wrote in the Sentinel on May 10, and I agree with what he said. War is hell and that has been stated many times. The Germans engaged in mass killing in England with their bombing attacks and V-1 and V-2 attacks as well as what they were doing to the Jews in their death camps.
