Salute to community's EMS workers
To the Editor:
No one expects to need their services. But when we do, we are eternally grateful for the emergency medical services (EMS) professionals who are always ready to come to our rescue -- regardless of the situation.
As we recognize our community's first responders during National Emergency Medical Services Week, May 19-25, we also celebrate 50 years of their dedication, courage and heart. These everyday heroes are paramedics, emergency medical technicians, firefighters, police officers, and others who are on call and ready to serve at a moment's notice.
During National EMS Week and every day, join us in thanking the incredible people who staff our regional emergency medical services. They rise to the challenge of saving lives daily and making our communities healthier.
Sincerely,
David J. Schoenwetter, D.O.

To the Editor:
The 2024 United Way of Mifflin-Juniata's Golf United Classic was held on May 10 at the Lewistown Country Club. This was the third annual event and it was a great success despite rain and chilly weather!
This event was a fantastic example of the supporting and giving nature of our communities.

We thank the Lewistown Sentinel, Juniata Valley Chamber of Commerce and Juniata Sentinel as well as Seven Mountains Media, and Mifflin County Communications Inc. for your partnership in making the Third Annual Golf United Classic a success. The proceeds of this event will get put into our 2024 campaign. This Campaign will close May 28. Through this funding we can support programs in 15 community agencies in Mifflin and Juniata County-for a list of those agencies go to our website: www.mjunitedway.org. We also fund two initiatives such as the Energy Bank, which provides heating assistance to our area senior citizens, veterans or those who have been denied for LIHEAP funds and our Nurse's Pantry program, which provides items to students to help fight excessive absenteeism; items like basic clothing, toiletries, eye exams and glasses.
We wish we could control the weather, but are grateful to those who faced it and conquered it!
Thank you!
