Our nation is lost without God To the Editor: A staggering poll from the 2020 Presidential Election showed that of 90 million professing Christians, 40 million, for whatever reason, did not vote in the general election. Currently, there are approximately 15 million Christians not registered to vote. This inaction of the Christians and the Church has cost this nation its very life. While a person or a government will not fix our problem, we look to Jesus and our obedience to Him to fix our hearts which will then greatly influence the public square. Immoral people will not fix ...

Our future depends on common sense Editor’s Note: This is a response to Mr. Gill’s letter to the editor in the Aug. 2 edition of The Sentinel. To the Editor: For those that don’t know Project 2025 is a conservative agenda initiated by the Heritage Foundation as a guide for the next Republican administration. Donald Trump says he does not endorse it and has his own Agenda 47 that mirrors Project 2025 in many ways. Vote for McCormick, not for Casey To the Editor: The US debt just hit 35 trillion. A few numbers for you. Personal tax revenues will total about 2.5 trillion, and interest on the debt is close to 1.14 trillion. We REALLY need some leadership with courage and some new ideas. Notice that we ...

Why is JD Vance ‘the chosen one’? To the Editor: In the July 29 edition of the Sentinel, columnist Josh Hammer anointed GOP Vice-presidential nominee JD Vance as “The Chosen One” — the “clear heir to the throne in a post-Trump Republican party.” This praise for Mr. Trump's current running mate stands in stark contrast to the treatment his previous running mate ultimately received from his fellow Republicans. In 2016, Mike Pence was selected to be Trump's running mate, and was praised because of his impeccable credentials — he was patriotic, staunchly conservative, ...

Project 2025 puts climate in danger To the Editor: Project 2025, an over 900-page document prepared by the conservative Heritage Foundation would reshape American life and fracture irretrievably the foundation of our democracy if ever enacted. It will touch our individual freedoms and liberties to our leadership in the world. Executive power, education, immigration, abortion, energy, Social Security and Medicare, taxes, international relations, the justice department, climate change, and more will change in unrecognizable ways. Even though Trump has tried to distance himself from ...
