Vote for McCormick, not for Casey

To the Editor:

The US debt just hit 35 trillion. A few numbers for you. Personal tax revenues will total about 2.5 trillion, and interest on the debt is close to 1.14 trillion. We REALLY need some leadership with courage and some new ideas. In round numbers, we take in about 6 trillion in total revenue and spend 5 trillion for the so-called "entitlements" like SS, Medicare, etc. We pay about a trillion in interest on the debt and have about 1 trillion to argue about where to spend it, military, infrastructure, Ag, law enforcement. Notice that we have 6 trillion to spend, but spend 7 trillion. Plus, Social Security and Medicare will run short of funds for full benefits in 8 to 10 years.

Bob Casey's claim to fame is that he was elected as the son of a popular PA governor. Casey has served for 18 years. His latest claims to fame, just before COVID, include pushing a bill to reestablish 1930's CCC. He wants to fund it with borrowed money we don't have, for unemployed workers we don't have, (job openings are about double in comparison to the number of unemployed workers.) And, he wants to add a program to build more parks we don't need.

Lately, he has been running ads on his support to stop/slow the illegal immigration problem and to reduce fentanyl coming in. Apparently, his efforts have been utter failures as these problems continue.

After helping Biden with all the massive federal spending bills that were a large driver of the inflation rate during Biden's term to date, Casey joined Biden again--this time blaming inflation on greedy corporate America inflating prices. Casey's help? He said he was going to write a letter to Walmart, Target, and Amazon telling them to stop inflating prices that cause inflation.

Now for my money, I love to buy from Amazon and Walmart as a way to get a good buy on all kinds of products. I so often hear the answer to "Where did you buy it?" Amazon ordered and delivered it in a day or two.

Democrats want to fuss about Dave McCormick living and having a house in Connecticut. They seem to forget Hillary Clinton lived in Arkansas, then DC while Bill was president. Then, when the NY senate seat came up, she said she was going to establish NY residency and run for office. Dave McCormick was born and raised in Pa, attended West Point, and served in Iraq with 82 airborne Div. Later, he worked in the Treasury dept., and was CEO of Bridgewater Assoc. -- one of the largest investment firms in the world. He retired to run for senate but didn't win the primary election last cycle.

So, do you want Bob Casey, an old-school, spend wildly, career politician? Or, do you want to take a chance on someone else with strong knowledge of the military and the Treasury and who has had a hugely successful career in Wall Street and the investing industry?

Casey wants to condemn McCormick's time at Bridgewater for dealing with China. For the uninformed, China now has many problems. But, during the 1980s, till the last few years, China was a star of global manufacturing. President Xi returning to many policies like Mao has upset the apple cart. International manufacturers have been flooding out of China to places like Mexico and Vietnam. But, the point is, Dave has the experience. As a nation, we need strong trading relationships.

Dave has an uphill battle, and Casey as the incumbent has name recognition. Casey is a nice man, but largely a weak senator. Democrats hold about a 4% edge in registered voters in Pa. We need a groundswell of support to turn the ship around on federal policies and spending.

Please think about it, talk to your friends, and vote for Dave McCormick. Thank you.
