Our nation is lost without God
To the Editor:
A staggering poll from the 2020 Presidential Election showed that of 90 million professing Christians, 40 million, for whatever reason, did not vote in the general election. Currently, there are approximately 15 million Christians not registered to vote. This inaction of the Christians and the Church has cost this nation its very life. While a person or a government will not fix our problem, we look to Jesus and our obedience to Him to fix our hearts which will then greatly influence the public square. Immoral people will not fix immorality, as they do not see it as immorality. It will be Christians living out their faith and influencing the world for good. As John Adams so rightly suggested, morality should indeed influence government unless the Nation falls. Ignorance is NOT bliss. It is costing us everything.
Oh sure, immorality has been here since the beginning of time. Up until 2020 those living immoral lives typically kept it in the closet. "You do you, I'll do me" was kind of the thought. Then the 90s happened and there were public scandals from the White House. Then the 2000s happened, and the Gay Pride flag was flown from the White House, then later it was lit up with the colors of the rainbow. Immorality was now laughing at the people of this Nation. Where are the Christians living out their faith to hold the line and bring morality and standards back to the White House and to this nation?
The godless Marxists have been after the nuclear family for years. They knew that to destroy a civilization you had to destroy the family. We have killed millions of unborn innocent children since the 1970s with the legalization of abortion. In 2020 alone nearly a million innocent lives were destroyed through abortion. Now it is as" simple" as a pill being delivered in the mail. Some states are even allowing killing the baby one month after it is born. Is it political or a cry from the world to which we as a church have a healing answer?
America was established with the basic premise that God is Sovereign and that He rules over all. "One Nation under God..." He sets the order of things, and we respect Him as the Author and Sustainer of all of them. He is our moral law. If we understand that, we recognize that we are not God. We do not set standards. We show which standards we want to keep by voting for what we believe. One candidate will secure our border, build our strength, stop the mutilation of children, protect men and women, and build a better economy. The other candidate has no idea what to do for the economy, will continue to support the mutilation of children, continue to support abortion on demand and killing a month after birth, will continue to open our borders, and allow drugs and predators to come across our borders.
Dietrich Bonhoeffer was a pastor during Nazi Germany. He saw first-hand the effects of a silent Church. He tried endlessly to get Christians to speak up and get engaged. He stated, "We are not to simply bandage the wounds of victims beneath the wheels of injustice, we are to drive a spoke into the wheel itself." Sadly, many remained silent while millions were innocently murdered. He said, "Silence in the face of evil is evil itself."
Elections have consequences. Vote. Voting is a moral obligation of a nation's citizens to choose their leaders. Be wise. Be discerning. Let's not repeat 2020. Get up, pray up, show up. Get engaged. "Every Christian must be fully Christian by bringing God into his whole life, not merely into some spiritual realm. Silence in the face of evil is evil itself: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act. What we need is religionless Christianity." -- Bonhoeffer.
This Nation, this Constitutional Republic, cannot survive another 4 years of this. "Duty is ours, results are God's." -- John Quincy Adams
