From hops to fireworks: Things to do this weekend

Whether it’s of the sock kind or the car variety, there will be a lot of hopping going on in the Juniata River Valley this weekend, with a sock hop at the Hope Center in Lewistown and the Car Hop at the Lack-Tuscarora EMS in East Waterford. John Street railroad crossing closing Monday

CLEARFIELD — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced Norfolk Southern plans to close their crossing along Route 3014 (John Street) in the Village of Mattawana, Bratton Township, on Monday, June 29. The closure will allow them to replace the crossing surface, which will improve rail infrastructure, ride quality, and enhance safety for motorists.
