John Street railroad crossing closing Monday

CLEARFIELD — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced Norfolk Southern plans to close their crossing along Route 3014 (John Street) in the Village of Mattawana, Bratton Township, on Monday, June 29. The closure will allow them to replace the crossing surface, which will improve rail infrastructure, ride quality, and enhance safety for motorists.

While the crossing is closed, traffic will follow a detour using Route 103 and Route 22. Work is set to begin on Monday, June 29, starting tentatively at 7 a.m. and is expected to continue until approximately 6 p.m. on Tuesday June 30. All construction schedules are tentative due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances and times of completion could vary.

PennDOT reminds drivers to use caution in the work zone, remain alert for railroad operators and equipment, approach railroad crossings carefully, and “Always expect a train.”
