Citations filed after domestic dispute MIFFLIN — Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown responded to a reported domestic dispute at 104 Juniata St. in Mifflin Borough at about 9:11 p.m. Sept. 12. Police identified Christian Torres Santiago, 25, of Mifflin, and Daneyris Martinez Santana, 26, of Mifflin, as both victims and arrestees. Brendali Ortiz Santiago, 30, of Mifflintown, was identified as a victim. Citations were filed, and police said the case remains open. Regional police handle 519 incidents in August

LEWISTOWN — The Mifflin County Regional Police Department responded to 519 incident reports during August, including 29 motor vehicle crashes, according to the department’s monthly statistics. Officers investigated 21 theft or fraud incidents and one assault during the month. Police also issued 80 traffic citations, five non-traffic citations and 38 warnings. Six arrests for driving under the influence were made during August. The Mifflin County Regional Police Department serves Burnham Borough and Brown, Derry and Union townships.

VA awards $44.7M to fight veteran homelessness in Pa.

ALTOONA — The Department of Veterans Affairs has awarded nearly $44.7 million in grants to Pennsylvania community organizations to assist veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. The funding, totaling $44,696,208 for fiscal year 2027, is part of a record $1.17 billion awarded to 680 organizations nationwide. Funding through the VA’s Supportive Services for Veteran Families program will help prevent veterans from losing their homes, locate suitable housing and rapidly rehouse veterans and their families experiencing homelessness.
