Labor Day! Greetings to all on this very nice evening! Such blue, blue skies and low humidity.
So, it was fun to use the kitchen stove to do some baking. Want to bake cookies another day. Today I made a zucchini cake and a chocolate jelly roll, and also a tomato casserole. Not all were for us, but to share.
The mail didn’t go today, as a red-number day. Could anyone explain Labor Day? Hope my letters will be on time.
Our Sunday callers yesterday were Bennies and Elmers, Urie and Rachie Peachey and three boys, Leroy and Ella Peachey and son Levi, who is already 10 months and says a few words. After supper, Shem and Mary Swarey and four children made a short call here on their way home from Jacob and Naomi Swarey. Sylvia Swarey was also here. It was also a beautiful day yesterday.
Today I walked over to the twins again, and this time I held both at the same time. They still sleep a lot but have awake times as well. Elmer is still bigger than Ela.
Tuesday, Sept. 1, a busload of IN arrived in Big Valley: Noah and Katie Peachey and all their married children and grandchildren, also David and Effie and son Mark and Ephraim and Arie Yoder.
They came for the Peachey-Byler wedding at Joe and Esther Byler’s on Sept. 3, which was a warm, humid day. Some rain too? September can be quite warm at times.
Ephriam's had lodging and meals at Elmer’s for three nights and made a quick call here. Effie also stopped in to say hi and bye.
There was a funeral Saturday, the 5th, for Annie Byler, 77, wife of John J. Byler Sr. She had gone for surgery and then went into a coma. Ur sympathy to the family. John had also not been so well recently. Address is 243 Lewistown Rd, Belleville, PA 17004.
Tuesday morning, Aunt Lizzie came to spend the day with us today before we had breakfast, so she joined us!
