PennDOT crews to perform “oil and chip” operations on several roads next week

MIFFLINTOWN — Motorists in Juniata County may encounter delays next week as surface treatment work gets underway on several roadways.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said maintenance crews will begin “oil and chip” operations Monday, May 18, on Route 2007 (Free Spring Church/Locust Run Road) in Fayette and Walker townships.
Traffic control will be in place during daylight hours, with flaggers directing vehicles through work zones.
Additional surface treatment work is scheduled throughout the week on several routes:
Tuesday, May 19: Route 2009 (Freed Road/Pine Street) in Thompsontown Borough, Delaware and Walker townships.
Tuesday, May 19, and Wednesday, May 20: Route 235 between Route 333 in Delaware Township and Route 2017 (Cocolamus Creek Road) in Greenwood Township.
Thursday, May 21: Route 2011 (Troyer Road) in Fayette Township.
Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time and use caution when traveling through active work zones.
Up-to-date roadway conditions are available through the state’s 511PA system.
