Hospital adds four rooms as part of $280,000 renovation project
From staff reports
LEWISTOWN — Geisinger Lewistown Hospital has expanded its emergency department with the addition of four private patient rooms as part of a recent renovation project.
The upgrades bring the total number of emergency room patient spaces to 24, including 12 private rooms, according to hospital officials.
Over the past year, the emergency department treated 32,670 patients, underscoring its role as a key access point for care in the region.
Hospital officials said the $280,000 project is intended to improve patient experience and support more personalized care. The renovated space also incorporates updated technology.
“For our team members, this work is deeply personal,” said Stacey Osborne, vice president and chief nursing officer at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital. “Every step we take to enhance care for our patients and community truly matters.”
Staff were given a preview of the new space May 11 prior to its opening. Officials said the rooms were placed into service the same day.
The project has been in progress since early 2025 and involved coordination among hospital staff and leadership.
