UGI gas rates unchanged for June, increase projected this winter

LEWISTOWN — Natural gas customers served by UGI Utilities Inc. will not see a change in supply rates beginning June 1, though a modest increase is projected later this year.

UGI announced its purchased gas cost rates will remain the same for June, following its annual filing with the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission. However, the company is projecting a rate increase effective Dec. 1, pending regulatory approval.

If approved, a typical residential heating customer using 68.7 hundred cubic feet (ccf) of gas per month would see a bill increase from $118.53 to $120.99, or about 2.1%.

Commercial customers using 26.8 thousand cubic feet (Mcf) per month could see bills rise from $354.51 to $363.93, a 2.7% increase. Industrial customers using 54.6 Mcf monthly could see bills increase from $683.84 to $703.01, or about 2.8%.

Purchased gas cost rates reflect what utilities pay for natural gas on the wholesale market and are passed through to customers without markup. Customers who purchase their gas supply from UGI are affected by these rates, though they may choose alternative suppliers.

Customers seeking more information about rates or payment options can contact UGI or visit the company’s website.

UGI also noted that assistance programs, including budget billing and payment plans, are available for customers who may have difficulty paying their bills.

Starting at $2.99/week.
