Smorgasbord on the activities menu this weekend for all tastes

Kid Connection is all about making certain the kids have fun.
LEWISTOWN – Got an empty plate? There’s tons of entrees at the buffet this weekend’s lists of things to do. If nothing whets your appetite then you are just a finicky eater (everything is also not food related).
From golf outings to fishing derbies and vendor markets to Kid Connection, there’s bound to be something for everyone. (And don’t forget that Sunday is Mother’s Day.)
Here’s a glance at what’s going on:
United Way’s Annual Golf United Classic
Hit the fairways with the United Way of Mifflin-Juniata for its fifth annual Golf United Classic on Friday, at the Lewistown Country Club, located at 306 Country Club Road, Lewistown. The event features a four-person scramble format to benefit local partner agencies, with registration starting at 10:15 a.m., lunch at 10:45 a.m. and a noon shotgun start. The cost is $420 per team. This event supports the 2026 campaign to help local agencies with initiatives for children and family stability. Visit www.mjunitedway.org to register.
Spring vendor markets
Spring Fling Vendor Event, sponsored by Thompsontown Volunteer Fire Co., 55 State St., Thompsontown, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Vendors, chicken and rib barbecue, Chinese auction, kids corner and more.
Hello Spring Vendor Market, sponsored by Granville Fire Co., Event Center, 105 Malta Drive, Granville, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Find local vendors, fresh spring products and unique handmade items. Admission is free.
Sports Card & TCG Show, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Reedsville Fire Hall, 16 Firehouse Blvd., Reedsville.
Trout derbies
Bill Beward Memorial Trout Derby, 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Zook’s Dam, Licking Creek, Mifflintown. Registration starts at 7 a.m. with fishing from 8 to 11 a.m. This tournament is for ages 12 and under. Raffle prizes and trophies will be awarded at the end of the derby. There will be a food stand and raffle.
Amanda J. Carolus Memorial Fishing Derby, hosted by the Granville Fire Co. No. 16, 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Malta Park, 1 Malta Park Road, Granville. This tournament is for age 12 and under. Registration begins at 8 a.m. The derby goes from 9 a.m. to noon. Food stand and raffles for purchase. Prizes and trophies will be awarded at noon.
Pennsylvania State Hunters Organization’s 22nd Annual Kids’ Trout Derby, 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, 246 Meadow Grove Road, Newport. Please check in at the pavilion when you arrive. Fishing begins at 10 a.m. for ages 3 to 15. This event is open to the public.
Food and more fundraisers
Chicken barbecue in Mount Pleasant Mills, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Fremont Fire Department, 8641 Route 104, Mount Pleasant Mills. Fire department is selling leg quarters for $5 and platters for $12. A platter includes a leg quarter, baked beans and macaroni salad. Proceeds benefit the Fremont Fire Department.
Spaghetti dinner fundraiser, 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Dressler’s Ridge Church, 4180 Dressler Ridge Road, Mount Pleasant Mills. This meal benefits Boy Scout Greenwood Troop 91. Eat-in or takeout by donation.
Community Meal at Dream Center, 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Dream Center of Mifflin County, 204 First Avenue, Burnham. Menu includes ham and scalloped potatoes. Donations welcome.
All-You-Can-Eat Mother’s Day Lunch, sponsored by Fremonth Fire Department, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Fremont Social Hall, 299 Millrace Road, Mount Pleasant Mills. Meal includes ham and turkey, filling, potatoes, vegetables, coleslaw, applesauce, dessert and drink. All you can eat or takeout. The cost is $17 for adults and $8 for ages 5 to 11. Proceeds benefit the Fremont Fire Department.
Pop Up: Blind date with a book
Pop Up: Blind Date with a Book will be held at East End Coffee Co., 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, 18 E. Market St.,. Lewistown. Many book options and various bundle prices. Proceeds benefit ROFF Rescue Cattery.
For The Kids
Kid Connection 2026, 9 a.m. to 1p.m. Saturday at Rec Park in Lewistown. Free activities and entertainment for the kids.
Babies at the Barnyard, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Barnyard Corn Maze, 10588 Ferguson Valley Road, Lewistown. Both play yards open and baby farm animals to snuggle. Scenic spring hay rides. $5 admission. Concessions available.
Mifflin County High School Mini-Thon Beat Cancer Block Party, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the student parking lot at Mifflin County High School, located at 501 Sixth St., Lewistown. This event is free. Donations are welcome, helping them reach their goal. Activities for the whole family. Everyone is welcome There will be food trucks, live music, children’s activities, guest speakers, MCHS Student Lip Sync Contest, Zumba and more.
