PennDOT announces maintenance projects

LEWISTOWN — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has announced road and bridge maintenance projects planned in Mifflin and Juniata counties during the week of June 1.

In Mifflin County, PennDOT crews will conduct patching operations at several locations:

Route 2004 (Green Avenue and Back Maitland Road) between Kishacoquillas Street in Lewistown Borough and Mount Springs Lane in Decatur Township from Monday through Friday.

Route 4006 (Back Mountain Road) between Route 305 in Union Township and Route 1005 (Old U.S. 322 Highway) in Armagh Township from Monday through Thursday.

Route 4004 (Front Mountain and Middle roads) between Route 4002 (Sharpsburg Road) in Menno Township and Route 4007 (Wills Road) in Union Township on Friday.

Flaggers will provide traffic control during daylight hours, and pilot vehicles may be used.

In Juniata County, bridge maintenance and cleaning will continue on Route 2028 (Goodville Road) at a bridge spanning Dutchman Run approximately five miles east of Salem. A detour remains in place using routes 235, 333 and 2017 (Evendale Hill Road).

Joint and crack sealing work is scheduled on Route 35 between Route 3017 (Cross Road) in Beale Township and Route 3002 (Main Street) in Fermanagh Township from Monday through Friday. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers, and pilot vehicles may be used.

Pipe replacement and cleaning projects are also planned in Tuscarora Township. Crews will work on Route 3016 (Noss Road), approximately one mile east of Route 35, on Tuesday and Wednesday. Additional work is scheduled on Route 3021 (McKinley Road) between Route 3016 (Noss Road) and Route 3014 (McCoysville Road) on Thursday and Friday.

PennDOT said the work is part of its ongoing roadway maintenance program aimed at preserving pavement conditions, maintaining drainage systems and extending the life of bridges and other transportation infrastructure.

All work is weather permitting and subject to change because of emergencies or other unforeseen circumstances.
