Derry Township man charged with possession
LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers were dispatched to the Laundry Room, located at 205 S. Dorcas St. in Lewistown, for a report of a suspicious male at 1:53 a.m. on April 6, according to a release issued on Thursday. The male, identified as Penns C. Rheam. 27, of Derry Township, was reported to be running in and out of the laundry facility, was trying to pull out washers, going through other peoples’ clothing and was reportedly “tweaking” appearing to be under the influence of drugs, the report said. Officers arrived and saw Rheam with his hands full carrying a baseball bat, woman’s purse and clothing, the report said, and officers noted that Rheam was sweating outside with temperatures at 44 degrees. Rheam was animated and could not stand still, the report said, and officers had Rheam conduct various field sobriety tests and he was placed under arrest after showing several indicators of being impaired. During a search incident to arrest, Rheam was found to possess a bag full of used syringes, folded piece of paper containing cocaine and a digital scale that contained cocaine powder, the report said, and Rheam could not provide an address to where he was currently residing and was lodged in the Mifflin County Correctional Facility in Lewistown. Rheam was charged with possessing controlled substances, possessing drug paraphernalia, and public drunkenness, the report said.
Juniata Terrace man arrested for warrant
LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers responded to the 100 block of Valley Street in Lewistown for a domestic dispute and disturbance at 3:34 p.m. on April 6, according to a release issued on Thursday. Officers spoke with a male and female separately, the report said, and the male was attempting to conceal his face by placing a pair of pants over his head. The male claimed he did not have any identification and he provided a name of “James Smith” to the officer, the report said, and while waiting to confirm his identity, the male attempted to place a small jar on top of a refrigerator and he attempted to conceal it with a bag of chips. Officers observed marijuana inside the jar, the report said, and no records were found associated with the name and date of birth the subject provided. He then said his name was Lyles but everyone calls him James, the report said, and the subject’s name was ultimately determined to be Carlisle Garrett, 55, of Juniata Terrace, who had a warrant for a summary driving offense where he owed $1,081.26. Garrett was transported to Mifflin County Correctional Facility in Lewistown on his warrant, the report said, and additional charges were filed for false identification to law enforcement and possession of a small amount of marijuana.
