Rental business aids DIY-ers with home improvement projects
LEWISTOWN — Lewistown’s business community welcomes a valuable new addition, Mifflin County Small Equipment Rental. Located at 105 Greenleaf Ave, this new business aims to serve contractors, DIY enthusiasts, and homeowners with a broad range of rental tools and equipment.
When customers step into Mifflin County Small Equipment Rental, they are met with a well-organized showroom, offering an array of tools. The collection includes floor sanders, concrete mixers, jackhammers, and more. The store caters to diverse project needs, from indoor renovations to outdoor landscaping and construction tasks.
The co-owners, Jena Griffin and Tanner Rager, bring a unique blend of expertise to the business. Tanner, a contractor by trade, has extensive knowledge of using these tools, while Jena’s hobby of tinkering with small machinery complements Tanner’s experience. Their combined skills ensure customers receive informed guidance when selecting equipment for their projects.
The story of Mifflin County Small Equipment Rental begins with the closure of APM, a local business that once served the community’s equipment rental needs. “We got a lot of our stuff from APM whenever they closed,” Griffin said. This acquisition allowed Griffin and Rager to hit the ground running, offering a familiar selection of rental tools to the area.
The decision to open the business stemmed from a recognized gap in the local market. Mifflin County Small Equipment Rental offers a variety of tools that enable community members to tackle their own repair and improvement projects.
Their combined expertise and passion for the field positioned them perfectly to fill the void left by APM’s departure.
Jena emphasizes the importance of making tools accessible to everyone, believing that having the right tools can empower people to improve their properties and, by extension, the community.
Beyond simply providing tools, the co-owners envision their business as a catalyst for positive change in the community.
“I think Lewistown has a lot of potential, and maybe if people had the tools to fix up their own properties or do their own tasks, it would make the area a little bit nicer,” Griffin said.
By empowering residents to take on projects themselves, Mifflin County Small Equipment Rental aims to contribute to the overall improvement of the area.
Looking ahead, Jena and Tanner have plans to expand their inventory. They recognize the demand for accessible, reliable equipment rental services and are committed to meeting this demand. The duo is actively working to hire more staff, which will allow them to provide even better service to the Lewistown community.
“We’re trying to get some more help to be solidified,” Griffin said, showing their commitment to meeting the community’s needs as effectively as possible.
As the business grows, Griffin and Rager plan to expand their hours of operation. The company currently operates from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
