ALTOONA — The second day of the District 6 Track and Field Championships for the 3A class and the 2A class athletes at Mansion Park in Altoona resumed on Wednesday after Tuesdays preliminaries.
In team points the Mifflin County boys are in third place in 3A with 24 points and the girls are sixth with a point.
Juniata High boys are in fourth place with 17 points in 2A to start Wednesday’s competition. The meet had to take time for two lightning evacuations and reset the tents getting regrouped at about 7 pm.
The Mifflin County Huskies got off to a great start on Wednesday with the boys 4×800 relay team setting a meet record of 7:43.37 to move on to the state tournament at Shippensburg. Huskie Reece Bell placed first to advance in the javelin throwing competition with a throw of 184-08, Jack Suydam placed second in the event with a throw of 159-07.
Jasper Shepps, of Juniata, set a meet record in the 110 hurdles at 14.16 to place first and advance to Shippensburg, The meet is half complete and these are the events by the local team, which finished at this point in the evening after all the delays.
