United Way seeks fund applications

LEWISTOWN — The United Way of Mifflin-Juniata is opening up its funding process, allowing qualifying nonprofit human service organizations in the two-county region to apply for funding. In order to qualify for funding, the applying agency must be a 501(c)3 as well as offer a program that makes an impact in the United Way’s three main areas of concern: education, income or health.

“Our goal is to continue to make our communities a great place to live, work, and raise a family,” said Oksana DeArment, Executive Director of the United Way of Mifflin-Juniata. “The funding that we provide is raised locally and stays locally to help support vital programs.”

All funding decisions are made by community volunteers after both a fiscal and program review process.

To be eligible for funding, nonprofit human service agencies must have tax exempt status, be in compliance with all government laws regulating nonprofit agencies and must provide direct human services to Mifflin County and Juniata County residents addressing needs identified in the 2016 Mifflin Juniata Human Services Needs Assessment (www.co.mifflin.pa.us – “Departments”-“Human Services”-“Needs Assessment”).

The deadline for applications is noon on March 18. For more information on how to apply contact the United Way office at (717) 248-9636, by email at odearment@mjunitedway.org or visit www.mjunitedway.org.

Starting at $3.75/week.
