Shouldn’t God have a place in school? To the Editor: I was recently made aware that our Mifflin County Elementary Schools, and Lewistown Elementary School (grades K – 3rd) in particular, forbids students from privately speaking of, writing about, or wearing apparel that mentions God at school. There have been multiple cases that I have been made aware of where young children have been singled out, humiliated, embarrassed and silenced for expressing a belief in God. They have been told, “Remember, God doesn’t belong in school.” Clearly, anyone who makes that comment ...

Time to refocus your attention To the Editor: There is hardly a day that goes by that Biden or some liberal Democrat doesn’t have something to say about gun violence or wanting to do something to ban something to do with guns. I am here to say if you want to stop a lot of deaths in this country do something about the stupid border policies of the Biden administration. It is these stupid policies that are killing people. There have been more deaths caused by Fentanyl coming across the southern border since Biden took office and screwed things up, than have died from gun violence in ...

Understanding an illogical argument In his latest post, I was taken aback by the fabrications and outright non-facts in the writer’s retort. In Mr. Fisher’s second paragraph, I attempted to fathom his connective reasoning but, as usual, was faced with typical incoherent thoughts. Is it the fact that the money given to every American is comparable to the tax relief given to businesses, small and large? Businesses create jobs, unlike the government that seems intent on creating methods for further tax robbery. Yes, companies do use tax incentives to further their means of ...

To the editor, Jesus in His sermon in the plain teaches us that the treasures of man’s heart are seen in the fruit that he brings forth in his life. In His sermon on the mount He compares man to trees and teaches us that “good trees bringeth forth good fruit but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit” (Matt 7:17). He also teaches that “a good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit: (Matt 7:18). And that man will be known by the fruits he brings forth ...

Did CRT need to be addressed? To the Editor CRT is another fad issue that our school board wants to waste its time on. No one is proposing to teach CRT in our schools or in any schools. There may not even be a CRT— just like the boogie man — something to scare us and our brave board members are protecting us from. Should we be afraid that our children will hate themselves if they learn about the sins of our past? Are they that fragile? The strength of our country is to face our sins and improve and move forward. Banning books about Roberto Clemente is sheer madness. When I ...
