To The Editor: I have lived in Mifflin County most of my life. As a member of our community, I have been self-employed business person and have had business dealing with other business associates. One of the people I have become acquainted with is Kay Semler. Kay Semler is dedicated to whatever project she has pursued. A good example is her involvement with the Reedsville Community Association, where she helped organize the Reedsville Community Day, Apple Festival, and was instrumental in the downtown beautification projects. Kay’s energy is limitless, as she serves the Mifflin ...

Dear Editor, I met Jeff Davis when I was doing paralegal work for Mifflin County CYS. He was the attorney who represented parents in various court proceedings. Jeff was versed in the law and represented every client with the utmost respect, diligence and competence. Outside of this legal work, Jeff was a private attorney handling all types of cases. I was impressed to learn Jeff’s story of working in leadership with the Mifflin County Probation and Parole Department and how this job gave him insight of how important lawyers and judges were. This insight was also the motivation that ...

To The Editor: This letter is related to the letter by Mr. Geedey in the April 12th letter in the Sentinel. I am a conservative. The facts that have been realized over time about covid actually indicate that there was much overkill in the way that the pandemic was handled. As far as 97% of climate scientists believe that global warming is real and dangerous and we are the cause. I say this: At one time, most everyone thought that the Earth stood still and the sun revolved around it. Also, that the Earth was flat until it was proven otherwise. As far as for the climate changing, it ...

The election of a judge in the Court of Common Pleas of Mifflin County is extremely important. It is a 10-year term with significant local responsibility. There are three candidates, all of whom are republicans and who cross-filed on both primary ballots. I have known all three for many years. All three are truly “nice guys.” All three have run a clean, professional campaign. I believe there is a factor which is the true bottom line when people choose their candidate. I believe that the right experience matters. There is no incumbent running since Judge Barron believes in term ...
