I am writing to recommend Mary Lou M. Sigler for the Mifflin County School Board. I have known Mary Lou for 20-plus years. I have always admired her integrity and rational thinking. Mary Lou supports what is best for students, in terms of both their education and their safety, while keeping in mind the costs associated with every decision that is made. “Common Sense Hard to Find” This is a reply to Mr. Geedey’s letter in the April 12th Sentinel. It seems Mr. Geedey and I are not that far apart on some common sense issues. There is no such thing as “informed common sense”. This is not to say that every person who identifies as “liberal” is all in on all issues. I was privileged to serve the citizens of Mifflin County as their Coroner for nearly three decades. I am writing to publicly endorse Andrea Alcalde for Mifflin County Coroner. Alcalde is extremely qualified to serve as Coroner; she is currently serving as Acting Coroner since my retirement. Alcalde successfully completed training at the Saint Louis University School of Medicine Department of Pathology, which is the gold standard for death investigation in the country. To The Editor: I am writing to support Jeff Davis for Judge of Common Pleas Court. As we know there are three candidates, all Republicans, who have cross-filed. This means that even the Democrats in Mifflin County will put a Republican on the ballot in November. This is why we need to look at all the candidates’ qualifications. As the Program & Aquatics Director at the Juniata Valley YMCA, I have known Jonathan Reed for many years.
