I met Jeff Davis when I was doing paralegal work for Mifflin County CYS. He was the attorney who represented parents in various court proceedings. Jeff was versed in the law and represented every client with the utmost respect, diligence and competence. Outside of this legal work, Jeff was a private attorney handling all types of cases.
I was impressed to learn Jeff's story of working in leadership with the Mifflin County Probation and Parole Department and how this job gave him insight of how important lawyers and judges were. This insight was also the motivation that led him to attend law school while working full-time. This showed me that Jeff had a goal and strong work ethic to reach it. It also shows that he has a long and versatile experience within the county court system.
Prior to meeting Jeff, he had served as an assistant district attorney, working under a very skilled prosecutor and mentor, David Molek. According to court records, their prosecutions were tough, fair and successful.
I am sure there are credentials and attributes I am missing, but one thing is evident, and that is Jeff Davis is more than qualified to be your next common pleas judge. I am a firm believer that when comparing things, we should compare apples to apples--but with the other candidates, we are comparing apples to oranges.
One candidate never practiced law. Their only experience is that of a district justice or justice of the peace which more recently acquired the title magisterial district "judge". However, this position is elected and does not require any legal experience or degree. Although important, this job is not a prerequisite or "logical step" in becoming a judge.
Another candidate has been an attorney for over 25 years. During that tenure, they ran a small business and did very little legal work. Recently, they have served as an assistant district attorney--the same job Jeff has already done.
None of this is to be interpreted as an attack, but merely facts the voters are entitled to know. The only thing these candidates have in common is that they all went to law school. What they did after law school shows they are not all qualified to be your judge. Jeff Davis is the only candidate with the experience and results in all areas of the law a judge presides over and he is your clear choice for judge. Vote Jeff Davis on May 16.
