Tenants and landlords: Protect yourself in light of recent fires To the Editor: Insurance — it’s an expense when you are paying for it and don’t need it. It’s worth every single penny if and when you do need it. TENANTS: According to a local official, only 1 of the 9 tenants in a recent fire in Lewistown had RENTER’S INSURANCE. Road use tax could be solution To the Editor: It’s just a matter of time before the federal and state taxes will be history, and that is a good thing Why? It’s because the gas taxes, like the sales taxes, unfairly burden the poor and the working class. It’s not their vehicles that damage the roadways. What would take the place of the gas taxes? A good replacement would be a road use tax, based on the weight of a vehicle, and perhaps the yearly miles driven. Elected officials should be intelligent people After writing a letter to the edition to oppose John Fetterman’s senate race I’ve seen some news to question my opinion of him. In well covered news, Sen. Fetterman traveled to Trumps resort in Florida to meet with him. The first Democratic senator to do so. The US has room for one flag, one loyalty To the Editor: Birthright citizenship is shorthand for the right enshrined in our 14th Amendment that persons born on American soil may claim US citizenship. The claim is based on conferring citizenship to anybody, regardless of the legal status of the parents, born on US soil. This means children born here to illegal aliens become US citizens. In 2024, an estimated 300,000 children were born in the US to non-citizen parents who entered our country illegally. Who knows whether all were counted by the Biden administration?
