Mifflin County Veterans Organization offer thanks
To the Editor:
On behalf of the officers, members, and over 4,000 veterans of Mifflin County, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Fame EMS and The Lake Dealerships for their recent generous donations of $1,000 each and the Lewistown Rotary Club for their $1,115 donation. Their support is invaluable and enables us to assist Veterans who might not receive help from other agencies.
We also want to express our deep appreciation for the ongoing support we receive from the St. John’s Lutheran Church and Barnabas Brothers. Your assistance each month is truly invaluable.
The Mifflin County Veterans Organization, a-501C-3 chartered non-profit is dedicated to supporting Veterans. We offer a monthly gathering for fellowship and camaraderie. Our meetings are held on the last Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church on North Main Street in Lewistown. We warmly invite all veterans to join us and encourage them to bring a spouse or friend to share a meal and enjoy the fellowship.
To all our veterans, we look forward to seeing you at our next meeting. Your presence and stories enrich our community, and we cherish every moment spent together. Let’s continue to support one another and build lasting friendships. Thank you for being part of our family.

Elected officials should be smart
To the Editor:
After writing a letter to the editor to oppose John Fetterman’s senate race I’ve seen some news to question my opinion of him. In well-covered news, Sen. Fetterman traveled to Trump’s resort in Florida to meet with him. The first Democratic senator to do so.
Fetterman stated, “I’m the Senator for all Pennsylvanians-not just Democrats in Pennsylvania. I will meet with and have a conversation with anyone if it helps me deliver for Pennsylvania and the Nation.” He disavowed the label “fascist” given to Trump by Biden and others during the campaign. “It’s not a word that I would use,” adding, “I happen to love people that are going to vote for Trump, and they are not fascists.”
My opinion is that Fetterman is a smart man, a man with common sense, and says he will work with anyone for the good of the American people.
This is exactly what I want in our elected officials. Elected officials SHOULD be smart, intelligent people. They have access to “insider” information on any important topic on our success and security. I do not ask them to support every opinion of mine. They have or should have the most informed views, so I will trust their decisions for the good of the country.
I will not blindly vote for him in the next election but will certainly watch closely and he has a chance to earn my vote. So for now, I cheer his attitude to work with anyone for the good of our country.
Did you know the US has 4% of the world’s population, but has a GDP of 29 trillion dollars of the world’s 110 trillion. We are so blessed but have many big problems to work on. Please pay attention to elections and our officials to help make America even better.
