Voters: Do you want capitalism or socialism?
To the Editor:
Sometimes Trump says things that make me cringe. But, under his presidency despite most liberal media against him, the false Russian collusion Mueller investigation, and the two impeachment attempts we largely had, in my opinion, peace and security. He was attempting to wind down the Afghan war, gas prices were good, and inflation and unemployment were low. In my opinion, his tax cut lowered corporate tax rates allowing profits to flow back into the country. He also cut nearly everyone's income taxes.
Contrast that with what I see as the Biden/Harris massive unfunded spending bills, the roadblocks for the energy industry, and the inflation problem not being solved. But I want to emphasize the open borders. We do need workers to immigrate but not in the uncontrolled way under Biden/Harris. Chris Wray, head of the FBI, told Congress that with our open borders, we don't know what threats came in, and we could face another 9/11-like event.
Agents don't have time to look for drugs.
A recent news clip said a high percentage of people in our jails/prisons have a drug problem. If border agents could cut down on the drugs it would make them more expensive, and harder for people to afford. What if agents could cut drugs by 20%? Think of the positive impact.
Do voters want, in my opinion, a relatively calm, safe Trump term with a capitalist idea of governing or the socialist-style Harris has spoken of?

Let's not revisit Trump presidency chaos
To the Editor:
Donald Trump, in my opinion, continues to paint a dark and foreboding picture of the United States if he is not elected. He made many of the same claims the last time he ran for President.
Before you vote this year please take a look around the area. In recent years, many new businesses are now occupying previously empty buildings. In addition, new stand-alone businesses are under construction. New businesses in the recent past include; Big Lots, Hobby Lobby, Chipotle, True Value Hardware, T-Mobile, AT&T, Starbucks, Jersey Mikes, Five Below, Shoe Department, Chevron Service Now, Hungry Run Bistro, East End Coffee in Reedsville, Cricket, Geisinger 65 Plus, and a new expanded Geisinger School of Nursing in downtown Lewistown and an expansion of The Reedsville Creamery.
I believe, hope, hard work, and joy should defeat gloom and doom. Let's not go back to what I think was the chaos that was the Donald Trump presidency.
Sincerely,
Harry Geedey
