New season begins Sunday at Williams Grove Speedway

MECHANICSBURG — Williams Grove Speedway will open the 2026 racing season Sunday afternoon, March 22 at 2 p.m. with an afternoon program of Lawrence Chevrolet 410 sprint car racing. Hoosier will present Opening Day 2026 with $6,000 up for grabs by the sprint car drivers in the 25-lap feature as part of the Pa Posse 410 Sprint Series. Penn State-WVU baseball game axed due to weather

UNIVERSITY PARK --- Penn State baseball’s game at West Virginia on Tuesday has been canceled due to anticipated cold temperatures. The Nittany Lions are still scheduled to play the Mountaineers twice this season. Penn State and West Virginia will meet on Wednesday, April 15 at Meritus Park in Hagerstown, Md. The teams will meet again on Wednesday, April 29 at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. Penn State travels to Purdue next weekend, March 20-22 for a three-game Big Ten series. Smith claims 4th place

From staff reports BOSTON, Ma. — Mifflin County's Carter Smith placed fourth for the Juniata Striders during the mile at the New Balance Indoor Nationals on Sunday. Smith posted a time of 4:04.05 as Indiana’s Noah Bontrager set a new meet record of 3:59.48 to earn gold. Smith captured a gold in the DMR and earned a silver in the 800.
