PORT ROYAL — Pennsylvania Speedweek has been a tale of two drivers so far leading into Wednesday night at Port Royal Speedway. Chase Dietz had claimed 3 of 5 events in PA Speedweek while Anthony Macri had won the other two. The two drivers would battle it out during the 30 lap A-main event with Dietz coming out on top for his 4th win of the sprint car mini-series and extending his points lead as well.

James McFadden and Anthony Macri would compose the front row of the feature event with Dietz position not far behind outside of the second row.

On the initial green flag, Macri would jump out to the early race lead with McFadden, who worked his way up to third in the PA Speedweek points during the night, positioned in the runner-up spot, and Dietz rounding out the top 3.

The top 3 would remain unchanged over the opening 14 laps of the race as they set a torrid pace around The Speed Palace as the high humidity held moisture down into the racing surface as cars consistently turned laps at around a 16-second pace.

Dietz would get by McFadden for the second position in turn two with 16 laps remaining and would benefit from a caution a lap later eliminating lap cars between himself and the leader.

Macri, who has 30 career 410 sprint car wins to his name at Port Royal Speedway, continued to be good in clean air, as the field retook the green flag, he opened his lead back out over 1.3 seconds.

But once back in lapped traffic, Dietz was able to close the gap on Macri and make for a fantastic finish over the final 5 laps.

Dietz would follow Macri around the race track seemingly plotting his move for the race lead when the lapped car of Buddy Schweibinz would get sideways in front of Macri, slowing his pace, and allowing Dietz to capitalize for the race lead coming to the two-to-go signal.

Once straightened back out, Macri would get back to his quick pace, but it wasn’t enough to reel in Dietz for the top spot, and Macri would have to settle for a runner-up finish.

Dietz’s win would mark his 4th triumph at the Juniata County Oval and his 15th win in the 2026 season only, leading only 410 sprint car drivers around the country.

Dietz would also stretch his lead in the PA Speedweek point standings to just over 100 total points over Anthony Macri with just 4 events remaining in the week.

James McFadden, who never fell too far behind in the A-main, would settle for the third spot on the night.

In United Racing Club 360 sprint car competition, Jason Shultz would power back to the front after a near heartbreaking restart to claim the win in the 25 lap A-main.

Shultz would start on the pole of the URC main event and would quickly get out to a sizeable advantage with Adam Carberry nestled into the 2nd spot.

Shultz advantage would be well over 2.5 seconds at points in the event, even through lapped traffic, that tried to prove a pest late in the race.

A restart with 8 laps to go however nearly spelled trouble Shultz as both Carberry and Michael Walter would pull to his inside in turn one with Carberry making contact with Shultz forcing to fall back to second.

Shultz would seemingly have a fire lit underneath as he quickly tracked Carberry back down over the next two laps to take the lead back and would pull away for the win.

Pennsylvania Speedweek is right back in action on Thursday at Hagerstown Speedway in Maryland.

Port Royal Speedway will return to racing on Saturday, July 4 for the Greg Hodnett Classic apart of PA Speedweek with Weikert’s Livestock 410 sprint cars competing for $15,000 to win as the Penske Racing Shocks Super Late Models also support the card.

Port Royal Speedway Ministries is also celebrating the United States’ 250 birthday with live music, face painting, bounce houses, and more starting at 1PM and running throughout the evening which will conclude with a fireworks show.
