Huskies come on late, get by Hanover

HANOVER — Six players put double-digit scores in the book, but Mifflin County’s trio earned the victory for their effort.
Cade Penepacker spread 19 points across the game to lead all scorers as the Huskies outmaneuvered Hanover, 59-56, in a nonleague boys basketball game Saturday.
Mifflin County did its damage in the second and fourth quarters after falling behind 20-10 in the opening frame. In fact, Hanover outscored the visitors in three of the four periods, but couldn’t slow the Huskies in the final stanza, where they score 18 points to Hanover’s 10 to cement the win.
Connor Zimmerman scored six of his 13 points in the fourth on a pair of long balls. He was outdone by Tagg Silfies, who scored all nine of his points in the fourth, all from the floor.
Landen Eichhorn scored 12 for the Huskies, all before the break.
In the JV game, Jay Miner led the Huskies to a 50-40 victory with a game-high 15 points.

Owen Dressler and Clark Ritzman each chipped in nine, while Jake Brackbill and Rowen Smith both scored eight.

COCOLAMUS — Cypress Feltman outscored Philipsburg-Osceola singlehandedly as East Juniata cruised to a 57-15 nonleague win in girls basketball Saturday.
Feltman scored most of her 25 points in the opening stanza — 20, with most of those coming on five of her six 3-pointers.

MIDDLEBURG — Chloe Sauer recorded a double-double with a game-high 20 points and 12 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough for Midd-West tro overcome Benton’s strong start as the Mustangs fell 47-39 in a Heartland Conference girls basketball game Saturday.
Benton’s 20-8 first quarter was the difference, as the Tigers were outscored the rest of the way.
