Can’t be a Christian and a Democrat

To the editor: I just finished looking at today’s Sentinel (Oct. 20) and decided to make a few comments. I enjoyed the two letters in the paper and agree with both authors. Now for a few comments from me about the up-coming election. To the editor: A current political TV ad starts out with a view portraying an innocent pre-teen or early teen girl. The outraged mother voice-over moans about how the child isn’t old enough to drive, to vote, hasn’t been to her first prom. It then leads into the narrative that if the young girl were raped, (candidate) would force the girl to carry the resulting pregnancy to full term because (candidate) would not allow abortions under any circumstances. Vote to protect abortion rights in Pennsylvania

To the editor: I am writing as a woman well past my child-bearing years, as a Christian, and as a voter who plans to vote for Josh Shapiro for governor in order to protect women’s right to an abortion in Pennsylvania. Current law in Pennsylvania allows for abortion thru the 23rd week of pregnancy, and after that if the woman’s life is endangered by the pregnancy. While we might debate the 24 week limit for viability of the fetus, I feel the law should remain as it is. Some faith traditions believe that life begins at conception, and thus oppose all abortions. Disagrees with recent letters

To the editor: This is in response to two recent letters to the editor. Mr. Spahr’s letter of Oct. 20, concerning the clothes a person wears, basically stated that a way a person dresses should show the level of accomplishments that a person makes. Let’s look at the uniform of a hoodie and shorts and what the person wearing it has accomplished. John Fetterman became mayor of Braddock in 2006 when that town was rundown; he left the job and became the 34th Lieutenant Governor of PA in 2019. A good laugh

To the editor: Everyone needs a good laugh every now and then. I received mine reading the Sentinel editorial page on Oct. 12. It was the cartoon of John Fetterman trick or treating and neighborhood parents did not recognize him in a suit. It was a classic image of art imitating life. Don’t be fooled, Fetterman’s general uniform of a hoodie and shorts is no lie. It confirms his level of maturity.
