To the editor:
This is in response to two recent letters to the editor.
Mr. Spahr's letter of Oct. 20, concerning the clothes a person wears, basically stated that a way a person dresses should show the level of accomplishments that a person makes.
Let's look at the uniform of a hoodie and shorts and what the person wearing it has accomplished. John Fetterman became mayor of Braddock in 2006 when that town was rundown; he left the job and became the 34th Lieutenant Governor of PA in 2019. So with the "uniform" of a hoodie and shorts he was had two major jobs -- and he did not have to have a suit to do that.
Seems that in this case that, to paraphrase an old saying "that clothes do not make the man."
The letter published Oct. 21 from Keith Plummer is a prime example of Republicans that claim to be Christians forgetting that the Bible states not to judge others, yet they do.
His letter asks why is it that Democrats support abortion -- he is wrong. Democrats support the right for women to choose what they want to do with their own bodies -- and yes, Mr. Plummer, that thing called an umbilical cord makes the entity within a woman's womb a part of her body.
I know that is a difficult thing to understand for the dictators of the Republican party who want to take women's rights back to when they were second class citizens and treated as property. According to the "Christian" Republican party life begins at conception -- please tell us all why it is that every single other religion in the world states that life begins at first breath.
Now to Planned Parenthood and the claim that they mainly do abortions -- wrong, according to the website of Planned Parenthood Out of all the services they provide, abortion accounts for less than 4% of what they do. They also perform screenings for cancer and other diseases.
What I find ironic is the people that vote Republic always vote against their own interests.
