LEWISTOWN — One person died and several others were injured in a house fire late Wednesday night in Lewistown, according to officials.

Mifflin County 911 officials said emergency crews were dispatched at 11:55 p.m. to a single-family home in the 200 block of Bratton Avenue in Lewistown Borough.

Officials said the Mifflin County Coroner’s Office was called to the scene for one victim, identified only as a female.

Additional occupants were transported to a hospital, according to the county 911 manager. Their conditions were not available Thursday.

Approximately seven fire departments responded to the blaze, which was brought under control shortly before 3 a.m. Thursday.

The Pennsylvania State Police fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.

In a Facebook post Thursday morning, City Hook and Ladder #14 said crews responded to reports of a working fire with multiple people trapped inside.

The department said multiple hand lines were used during the firefighting effort and confirmed the incident resulted in one civilian fatality, severe injuries to another person and additional injuries to others.

Firefighters remained on scene for nearly four hours, according to the department.
