Teen questioned in shots fired investigation

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown police are investigating a report of shots fired on Logan Street early May 14.

According to police, officers responded around 12:04 a.m. to the 300 block of Logan Street after witnesses reported a female claiming she had been shot. Officers later identified a 16-year-old female connected to the incident.

Police said a 19-year-old Ecuador man, Leandro Maikel Villamar-Chavez, initially provided a false name when questioned. He later was identified through fingerprint records and lodged in Mifflin County Correctional Facility on an immigration detainer and charged with false identification to law enforcement.

Investigators later determined Villamar-Chavez was not the person who fired the weapon. No injuries were reported. The investigation continues.

Police investigate stolen revolver

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown police are investigating the reported theft of a .357 magnum revolver from a South Walnut Street residence.

According to police, the theft was reported May 15. The firearm has not been recovered.

Police seek driver in hit-and-run crash

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that occurred May 15 near South Main Street and Fleming Avenue.

Police said a light-colored sedan crossed into the oncoming lane, sideswiped an SUV, struck a sign post and fled the scene. The driver was described as a white female with blonde hair operating what appeared to be a Cadillac sedan.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Lewistown police.

No injuries reported in stove fire

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown police responded to a reported fire May 17 at 10 S. Main St.

According to police, a teapot with a wooden cover ignited on a stove, damaging the appliance. A bystander extinguished the fire before emergency crews arrived.

No injuries were reported and the fire was ruled accidental.

Man charged after warrant arrest

LEWISTOWN — A Lewistown man was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia following his arrest May 19 on an outstanding warrant.

Police said John J. Stewart III, 43, was taken into custody on Catherine Street. Officers allegedly found a glass pipe and hypodermic needles in his possession.

Woman charged following disturbance call

LEWISTOWN — A Lewistown woman faces charges after police responded May 19 to a report of suspicious behavior near the Mifflin County Housing Authority.

Police said Beth Ann Bratton, 50, appeared impaired and allegedly exposed herself in public near children. She later was transported to the hospital by EMS.

Bratton was charged with open lewdness and public drunkenness.

Warrant issued after alleged knife assault

LEWISTOWN — Lewistown police have issued a warrant for a man accused of assaulting another man with knives during an altercation May 19 on South Main Street.

Police said Keith A. Baumgardner, 41, allegedly confronted the victim before a fight occurred. The victim suffered a facial laceration and later sought medical treatment.

Baumgardner is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and criminal mischief.

Woman charged in fake urine case

LEWISTOWN — A Brown Township woman was charged May 20 after allegedly attempting to submit fake urine during a drug test at the county probation office.

Police said Harley Miller, 28, used water tinted with food coloring. She was charged with furnishing drug-free urine.

Man jailed after warrant arrest, drug charges

LEWISTOWN — A Granville Township man was jailed May 20 after Lewistown police allegedly found methamphetamine during a warrant arrest.

Police said Rodney L. Frymyer Jr., 30, attempted to discard a bag containing methamphetamine, packaging materials and a glass smoking device when officers approached him.

He was lodged in Mifflin County Correctional Facility and charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
