Lane closure expected on I-80
From staff reports
CLEARFIELD — Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced a single-lane closure is planned Monday on Interstate 80 westbound as part of the ongoing high-speed interchange project connecting Interstates 80 and 99.
The closure will take place between mile markers 163 and 161 from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 4 to allow crews to resurface the roadway and reconstruct the shoulder area.
The work is part of a larger project designed to improve safety and traffic flow by creating a direct connection between I-80 and I-99, eliminating the need for drivers to use Route 26 between the two interstates.
The multi-year project includes construction of the interchange, along with bridges, retaining walls, culverts and roadway improvements. Work is expected to continue through 2030.
Trumbull Corporation of Pittsburgh is the contractor on the $259 million project, which is partially funded through federal infrastructure dollars.
PennDOT encourages motorists to check road conditions at 511PA.com and to expect delays in the work zone.
