McClure homicide suspect dies in head-on crash on Route 104
MCCLURE — A McClure woman was found dead early Sunday morning and the man believed to be responsible was later killed in a head-on crash with a tractor-trailer on Route 104, Snyder County District Attorney Heath Brosius said.
Brosius said he was notified of the homicide on West Specht Street at 6 a.m. after a man — believed to be the victim’s husband — called 911, reported the woman’s death, and told dispatchers he intended to take his own life.
Shortly before 11 a.m., the suspect’s vehicle collided head-on with a semi-truck on Route 104. He died at the scene. His identity, along with the name of the victim, is being withheld pending notification of relatives. No information was immediately available about the condition of the truck driver.
Pennsylvania State Police at Selinsgrove confirmed the homicide occurred in the 30 block of West Specht Street in McClure Borough. Multiple streets in the borough were closed Sunday morning as troopers processed the scene.
A stretch of Route 235 in Juniata and Snyder counties was also shut down due to related police activity.
More information is expected to be released as the investigation continues.
