Community Choir recruiting singers concert

LEWISTOWN — The Lewistown Community Choir is seeking adult singers for a concert celebrating America’s 250th birthday this summer.

The semiquincentennial concert is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. June 27 on the square in downtown Lewistown. The choir, directed by Terri Limes and accompanied by Patty Loudenslager, will perform from the steps of the Historic Courthouse. A rain date is set for June 28.

Rehearsals will be held at 3 p.m. Sundays at St. John’s Lutheran Church on May 17 and 31 and June 7, 14 and 21. A final dress rehearsal with the band is scheduled for 7 p.m. June 22 at the church.

Selections for the concert will include “Armed Forces — The Pride of America!,” “Battle Hymn of the Republic,” “An American Celebration” and “United We Stand.”

Organizers said all adult singers are welcome to participate.

Multicultural Children’s Festival set for May 16

UNIVERSITY PARK — The fifth annual Multicultural Children’s Festival will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the State College Area High School South Building.

Co-hosted by WPSU and the State College Area School District, the free event celebrates the diverse cultures represented across central Pennsylvania.

The festival will feature interactive activities, music, food, art and hands-on crafts for children of all ages.

While admission is free, advance registration is encouraged. Attendees are asked to check in upon arrival.
