Coroner: Medical emergency preceded fatal tractor-trailer crash
LEWISTOWN — A medical emergency preceded a fatal tractor-trailer crash into the Laurel Creek Reservoir in the Seven Mountains area on Friday, according to the Mifflin County Coroner’s Office.
Coroner Andrea Alcalde said Steven R. Larrabee, 72, of Christiana, Lancaster County, suffered a cardiac event prior to the crash, which is believed to have caused him to lose control of the vehicle.
The official cause of death was listed as multiple blunt force trauma injuries sustained in the crash, and the manner of death was ruled accidental. Alcalde noted that drowning was not a contributing factor.
The coroner’s office also recognized several emergency response agencies for their efforts in coordinating the response and recovery, including City Hook and Ladder, Newton-Wayne Fire Company and Milroy Hose Company, along with other assisting agencies.
