Huffman currently has an active arrest warrant from the Pennsylvania State Police for felony strangulation as well as a DUI suspended license, the report said. After an incident in Lewistown at 1:14 a.m. on May 20, police charged him with an additional arrest warrant for him fleeing and eluding, flight to avoid apprehension, possession with the intent to deliver drugs, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a DUI suspended license-second offense and numerous summary traffic offenses. The warrants stemmed from an incident where officers received a report of a suspicious vehicle on Pannebaker Avenue that was speeding and failing to stop at posted stop signs, the report said. Officers located a black Dodge Ram on Chestnut Street at the five points area, the report said. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle on North Dorcas Street; however, the vehicle failed to yield and officers pursued the vehicle through alleys and streets, the report said. Eventually, the driver fled on foot and discarded a bag containing a large amount of methamphetamine and a butane lighter, the report said. Officers were unable to locate the driver but determined he entered a specific residence and spoke to Heather Rand, 34, of Lewistown, who lived there. Rand was uncooperative and would not identify herself to officers and refused to provide her name and allowed the officers to perform a limited search, police said. Officers secured the truck and it was towed to an impound lot, the report said. Officers spoke with Rand’s landlord who indicated that Rand and Huffman both rent from the landlord, the report said. Officers conducted a search of the truck and obtained fingerprints from the truck as well as various drug paraphernalia, the report said. Officers also located alcohol purchased from Sheetz and used surveillance footage to identify Huffman. Rand is being charged with hindering apprehension after failing to cooperate with officers, police said.
