Burnham woman faces charges after hit-and-run crash
LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers responded to the report of a hit-and-run crash on the 300 block of Valley Street, Lewistown, at 5:29 p.m. on Jan. 17, according to a release issued on Thursday. Police said Kira Ritter, 31, of Burnham, struck the rear-end of a vehicle on Valley Street then fled on foot. The report said officers were unable to locate Ritter. No injuries were reported as a result of the crash, and traffic was detoured around the 300 block of Valley Street until the crash could be investigated and involved vehicles were removed from the roadway, police said. Officers received information later that day that Ritter was at her residence in Burnham, the report said. Officers contacted with Ritter, who admitted to fleeing the crash because her license is suspended, the report said. Charges are forthcoming, police said.
Teenager arrested for
alleged DUI after crash
LEWISTOWN — An unidentified 17-year-old juvenile was arrested for DUI after being involved in an alleged hit-and-run crash at the intersection of Valley and East Third streets in Lewistown at 11:48 p.m. on Jan. 17, according to a release issued by the Lewistown Police Department on Thursday. Officers located a vehicle that attempted to navigate a right turn onto East Third Street while driving westbound on Valley Street, the report said. The vehicle struck a pole head-on causing the pole to shear off from the base, police said. A witness reported seeing five juveniles flee from the vehicle, and officers located two juveniles on the first block of Chestnut Street, the report said. A 17-year-old juvenile was identified as the driver, and he had a strong odor of alcoholic beverages and demonstrated several indicators of impairment, police said. The juvenile was arrested for DUI and blood was obtained from the hospital for testing, the report said. The occupants involved in the crash that officers were able to identify did not report any injuries, police said. The vehicle was towed from the scene due to the extent of the damage sustained, police said.
Port Royal man lodged in Mifflin County jail on alleged DUI charges
LEWISTOWN — Christopher Wayavong, 35, of Port Royal, was lodged in the Mifflin County Correctional Facility in Lewistown on charges of DUI, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while operating privileges are suspended, according to a release issued by the Lewistown Police Department on Thursday. At 2:20 a.m. on Jan. 18, officers were dispatched to the Nittany MinitMart, 403 E. Walnut St., Lewistown, where they found Wayavong, who appeared to be intoxicated, in the store, police said. Wayavong left the store in a vehicle, which the officers followed, the report said. a vehicle and officers began following the vehicle. The report said the vehicle was driving at a high rate of speed and was unable to stay in its lane. Officers stopped the vehicle on East Charles Street in Lewistown and identified Wayavong, who had odors of alcoholic beverages coming from him and an open container of alcohol in the vehicle, police said. The report said Wayavong’s license had a DUI related suspension, and he showed several indicators of impairment during field sobriety testing. The report said Wayavong was arrested for driving under the influence. Police said they also found a container in his pocket that contained methamphetamine residue. The report said Wayavong was transported to the hospital where he became very belligerent and he refused chemical testing.
Teenager charged with false ID during burglary investigation
LEWISTOWN — William Kani Jones, 19, no address listed, was lodged in the Mifflin County Correctional Facility on a probation detainer after being charged with providing false identification to law enforcement, according to a release issued by the Lewistown Police Department on Thursday. At 5:09 p.m. on Jan. 19, officers were dispatched to 300 Silversand Ave., Lewistown, for a report of a possible burglary, the report said. Police said the tenant was in the hospital and no one was supposed to be in the apartment. Police said a photo of two males leaving the apartment was provided to responding officers, and those subjects were located a short time later. Jones was one of the subjects and provided officers with several false names when officers attempted to identify him, police said. Jones also provided a false date of birth. Jones was positively identified and he was charged with false identification to law enforcement, police said.
Lewistown woman charged with drug possession during traffic stop
LEWISTOWN — Lewistown Police Department officers stopped a vehicle on the 200 block of South Main Street for a traffic offense at 1:40 a.m. on Jan. 21, according to a release issued on Thursday. Police said the driver was found to have a suspended license, while passenger Melissa Kibe, 44, of Lewistown, was charged with drug and drug paraphernalia possession. The report said the occupants of the vehicle were known to be associated with drug activity. The driver gave consent to search the vehicle. During a search, smoking devices and a container with methamphetamine were located in a bag along with Kibe’s identification.
Man cited for trespassing after sleeping in apartment common area
LEWISTOWN — Melvin Patrick Roland, 26, no address listed, was cited for trespassing after the owner of an apartment complex on the first block of East Third Street in Lewistown complained about him sleeping in a common area blocking access for other residents to the stairs, according to a release issued by the Lewistown Police Department on Thursday. At 8:54 a.m. on Jan. 21, officers found at the bottom of the stairs asleep, police said. The report said the owner complained Roland had been told multiple times in the past that he was not allowed in the building.
Lewistown man facing multiple charges after domestic dispute
LEWISTOWN – Jeffrey G. Henry, 41, of Lewistown, was arrested for strangulation (domestic related) and simple assault as well as possession of drug paraphernalia after an incident on the first block of Ridge Road in Lewistown at 12:03 a.m. on Jan. 22, according to a release issued by the Lewistown Police Department on Thursday. After responding to a domestic dispute and conducting an investigation, officers charged Henry. They also found a straw and a baggy containing cocaine residue were located in Henry’s pocket, police said.
