PennDOT schedules bridge, paving maintenance projects in Mifflin and Juniata counties
From staff reports
LEWISTOWN — PennDOT has announced a series of roadway and bridge maintenance projects in Mifflin and Juniata counties scheduled for the week of May 11.
In Mifflin County, crews will perform bridge maintenance and cleaning on all state-owned bridges along Route 322 from Monday through Thursday, with single-lane closures expected during work hours. Similar bridge work is planned Friday along state-owned bridges on Route 22.
PennDOT also plans crack sealing operations along all of Route 655 from Monday through Friday. The work is designed to prevent water intrusion that can lead to potholes and pavement deterioration.
Patching work is scheduled along Route 2004, also known as Green Avenue and Back Maitland Road, from Monday through Wednesday. Additional patching operations are planned on Route 522 from Wednesday through Friday.
Flaggers will provide traffic control during daylight hours for roadway projects, and pilot vehicles may be used in active work zones. PennDOT reminded motorists to remain behind pilot vehicles displaying “Pilot Car Follow Me” signs and flashing yellow lights.
In Juniata County, PennDOT crews will conduct joint and crack sealing work on Route 3008, also known as Groninger Valley Road, between Route 3030, Spruce Hill/Turbett Flats Road, in Beale Township and Route 75 in Turbett Township from Monday through Wednesday.
Additional crack sealing work is planned Thursday and Friday along Route 3004, Tuscarora Road, in Turbett Township.
Pipe replacement and cleaning operations are also scheduled Monday along Route 4006, Beggars Road, in Lack Township.
PennDOT said pipe replacement and cleaning help maintain proper water flow around roadways and prevent damage to pavement surfaces and road foundations.
Officials noted all work schedules are weather dependent and may change because of emergencies or other unforeseen circumstances.
Drivers can check roadway conditions and traffic updates through 511PA.
